In Memoriam: KWA President Walt Missingham

At Pei Lei Wushu Association, we honour the remarkable legacy of Walt Missingham—a true pioneer in the development of Chinese martial arts in Australia and beyond.

From becoming one of the first non-Chinese person to train at the Shaolin Temple in 1983, to leading national martial arts bodies, Walt has shaped the landscape we practise in today. His leadership and vision have united and uplifted the martial arts community across the country.

As President of Kung Fu Wushu Australia and the Oceania Federation and as a Vice-President of the International Wushu Federation, his advocacy has ensured Wushu is both preserved and recognised as a modern sport. More than policy, his influence is felt in the values he lives by: respect, resilience, and integrity.

Walt has always been a great supporter of Shifu Alice Bei Dong and Pei Lei Wushu, bound to us through mutual respect and a deep love of Chinese Martial Arts.

We thank Walt for his lasting impact.
