International Wushu Kung Fu Day

To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the International Wushu Federation, we organised a small outdoor session to mark International Wushu Kung Fu Day.

The previous day, it had rained all day long. But, by fate or chance, for this morning, the sky was beautiful and let us practice Tai Chi for more than an hour!

2019 KWA National Championships Results

Last week, Pei Lei Wushu athletes travelled to Brisbane to take part in the 2019 National Championships, competing in Tai Chi, Wushu and Traditional Kung Fu categories.

With the high winds in Sydney on Saturday morning, several of our athletes had to deal with flight cancellations and delays that threatened to derail them from participating in the event, but thanks to the amazing efforts of Sherman, leading a six hour drive for six members of the team from Sydney Airport all the way to Mount Gravatt with minimal stops, our full team was able to take the field on Sunday morning. Thankyou so much Sherman (and Angela)!

It was a great day, especially to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Our team was very successful, picking up a fine collection of gold, silver and bronze medals. Congratulations to all involved, especially to those who competed for the first time. JIAYO!

2019 World Kung Fu Championships Report

A warm welcome back to our Pei Lei athletes who competed in this year’s World Kung Fu Championships in Emeishan! Our representatives received 5 Silver and 8 Bronze medal placings for Individual events. Pei Lei athletes also competed in the Duilian (Bajiquan) and Group (Taiji Broadsword) events, representing Australia and bringing back Silver for both.

The athletes were proud to represent their country and enjoyed the camaraderie of the other Australian team members from schools around the country, while building new friendships with Wushu enthusiasts from all over the world.

Special thanks to Shifu Alice for all her dedication in coaching and instructing all of our competitors, and also to Team Manager Krista for her efforts organising the team and looking after us all during the competition. Also a thankyou to our good friend Master Mark Sun at Cangzhou Kung Fu for his Duilian coaching.

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!
